Gambit's MIMIC Simulator Provides New Server Simulation Capabilities

Gambit's MIMIC Simulator Provides New Server Simulation Capabilities for Troubleshooting Web, Mail, Wireless Management Applications Creates scalable, extensible and configurable test and evaluation environment

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Oct 01, 2009 – Gambit Communications, a leading provider of network and SNMP simulation tools, today announced MIMIC Server Simulator, a new solution to create a complete virtual infrastructure with servers and networking devices. This functionality is part of the new release of Gambit's MIMIC Simulator Suite 10.00.

MIMIC Server Simulator simulates Web (HTTP), WMI (WBEM), Mail (SMTP), DNS and
many other servers to test and evaluate how well enterprise applications work
with the entire infrastructure. This extends MIMIC's network environment
simulation capabilities. MIMIC Server Simulator is the newest addition to the
MIMIC® Simulator Suite.

"The MIMIC Server Simulator really rounds out Gambit's solution for Enterprise
Application testing," said Jim Frey, research director at Enterprise Management
Associates. "More and more management tools and suites are bringing together
network and systems management into combined solutions, and those technology
providers need the ability to simulate the complex, mixed environments where
their products will be put to use.  Already the leader for SNMP simulation and
test, Gambit's MIMIC suite becomes much more powerful when adding the ability to
simulate large numbers of servers in parallel with many multiple network
elements -- all under varying operational conditions and states."

"Our server management solution, ServerIR, uses both SNMP and WMI to monitor
servers.  It is designed to handle large scale infrastructures with thousands of
servers.  Obviously, we need to be able to verify the scalability of our solution
and test the performance impact of new features prior to deployment on customer
premises" said David Kaufman, Founder and President of ISaccountable. "With the
addition of the server simulator to Gambit's MIMIC Simulator Suite, we can now
exercise product scalability with minimal investment of time or equipment. We are
looking forward to leveraging the new MIMIC version 10.00 capabilities."

MIMIC Server Simulator simulates thousands of servers to easily test, develop and
demo client applications. MIMIC Server Simulator, along with MIMIC SNMP Simulator
enables you to create a virtual lab with up to 20,000 servers along with networking
devices. MIMIC Simulator 10.00's new offering includes:

* Server Simulator
  - Simulates server farms for testing and training of Web based management
applications, Load balancers for Web servers, Mail applications, DNS and File
    Transfer clients.
  - Allows testing with thousands of servers having different IP or IPv6 addresses.
  - User-friendly graphical interface allows easy and intuitive setup of the test
    environment.
  - Simulates servers as if they are located at geographically separate locations
    or countries.
  - Add delays or drop packets to create remote or bad links.

* IPMI multi-session support: Now the IPMI module fully supports multiple
 simultaneous sessions.

* Protocol Wizard: Allows easy installation of MIMIC's optional protocol modules for
Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, IPMI and Cable Modem.

* Telnet Terminal length support:MIMIC negotiates terminal length with the Telnet
server to show the command output correctly no matter what terminal size the user has.

Availability
MIMIC Simulator 10.00 is available immediately from Gambit.
