That’s exactly what KGO Radio business reporter Lynn Jimenez does everyday - she shares her knowledge with the people who need it the most. In recognition of her contribution, Jimenez received the Florence Kelley Consumer Leadership Award from the National Consumer League (NCL) for her longstanding commitment to social justice for consumers and workers.
Honored for her work educating listeners about financial and economic issues on KGO Radio 810 in San Francisco, Jimenez has had significant impact as an author as well. Her book, ¿Se Habla Dinero? The Everyday Guide to Financial Success is written in English and Spanish for the average Latino family struggling to meet daily financial needs. National foundations and community leaders credit it for being a comprehensive and easy-to-follow road map for managing money and helping families overcome their fear of finances. Sandra R. Hernández, M.D. CEO of The San Francisco Foundation says, “Jimenez puts Latino family values to work in this thorough guide to growing and protecting our children’s assets for the future.”
Jimenez was honored by the NCL along with Trumpeter award recipients, U.S. Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis and 60 Minutes Correspondent Steve Kroft. “I’m humbled to be recognized by the NCL whose work is so vital to the safety and well being of all Americans,” said Jimenez. “It’
