FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Sep 30, 2009 – VidSchool.com, is a website where teachers are able to build their profile and deliver pre-recorded classes to students from around the globe. Gone are the days of students travelling to and from a teachers house to attend grinds after school, with www.VidSchool.com the teacher is able to teach the student within their own home on their own time.

The Irish ‘grinds’ market alone is estimated at over €50m per annum, with the majority of those ‘grinds’ being delivered offline. VidSchool hopes to create a strong and easy to use online proposition to ease the transition from offline learning to online learning. With VidSchool, teachers are able to provide their classes within three general levels: school level classes, college level classes and hobbies and interests. In effect, teachers can teach anything on the VidSchool platform from algebra to guitar and on to zoology.

Parents will be put at ease with the knowledge that, if their child studies through the VidSchool website, they will be able to create a parent profile and link their account to their child’s. This will allow the parent to see how their child is performing in mini-tests throughout the site and they’ll be able to set up alerts which will notify them if their child isn’t logging on and taking classes as often as they should be.

VidSchool is intent on developing the most easy to use and safe environment for online learning and therefore a students information is never accessible by anyone other than the student, their parent and the VidSchool moderation team.

VidSchool was demoed in the demopit of the prestigious Techcrunch 50 conference in San Francisco on the 15th September and was very well received alongside fellow Irish startup, www.CloudSplit.com.

Paul Edwards, Co-Founder of VidSchool.com, said “We’re delighted to be able to finally unveil what we’ve been working hard on building over the last 9 months. Being asked to demo at Techcrunch 50 was an honour and we received some serious validation of our business proposition. At the moment we’re looking to recruit as many teachers as possible onto the site to improve the offering and we’re hoping to raise an Angel round of investment to further develop the platform and grow the brand”.

VidSchool offers teachers an opportunity to earn additional revenue in a time of economic uncertainty whilst also giving students a chance to learn on their own time and in the security of their own home. The website currently has over 50 video classes available in courses such as maths, guitar and chemistry.

To contact VidSchool for more information, please do not hesitate to call Paul Edwards on 087 231 7736 or e-mail us at media@vidschool.com.

VidSchool is determined to become the ultimate online portal for learning anything from Algebra to Zoology. We bring teachers and students together in one location to learn and teach on their own terms, in their own time.

VidSchool students can decide on what subject they would like to learn, search through the VidSchool website to find a teacher who teaches that subject and start learning straight away. This also allows students to study and learn at times that are convenient to them rather than fit into someone elses schedule, from the comfort of their own home.

Teachers can pre-record their classes for any subject they specialise in, upload a class or a whole course to VidSchool and start teaching students all over the world immediately.

VidSchool also provides parents of students under the age of 18 the ability to view the progress of their child throughout VidSchool via our parenting analytics package.
