Sept. 29, 2009 - PRLog -- Earlier this month, at an awards dinner hosted by the National Blood Service, Chesterford Research Park was presented with an award to recognise the commitment of the Park to organising and promoting blood donation sessions within their central Nucleus facility.

Due to the hard work of the Park team donations have doubled in the last year, with over 210 donations collected so far.  With each blood donation potentially saving the lives of up to three people, contributions from the Park to date will have helped save or significantly improve the lives of over 630 patients.  The Park began organising the sessions in 2007, with the most recent in July this year collecting 34 donations, and attracting six new donors from companies on the Park.

Ruth Greenaway, Media and PR Manager at NHS Blood and Transplant said: “Only three per cent of donors reach their 75th donation, while less than one per cent make it to 100 donations.  We are pleased to thank these incredible people who have helped save so many lives over the years.  We really hope more people follow their example and do their bit to help keep blood stocks healthy.”

Having been nominated for the award by the local Donor Relations team at the National Blood Service, Chesterford Research Park was one of only five companies in the East Anglian region to be recognised in this way, and the only company in the Cambridge area to collect an award on this occasion.

Noel Cooper, Gym Manager at the health and fitness centre situated within the central Nucleus facility at Chesterford collected the award on behalf of the Park.  He commented: “We are extremely pleased to have been recognised in this way, particularly as the nomination came from within the Donor Relations team which assists companies, such as ourselves, in encouraging people to donate.  Our next aim is to reach total donations of 300 pints!”
