The buildings that constitute HOTEL TUVANA, designed and built by Abdi Efendi, one of the glorious officers of the Ottoman Empire, reflect the heritage, culture and living style of the days of empire period, expressly.
Abdi Efendi was to welcome important guests in these houses, and that's why he employed the best craftsmen in the construction of these buildings, which were one of the beauties of that period's architecture. Not only these successful craftsmen but also other leading architects who made significant contributions to the late Ottoman style in Istanbul took part in this project to bring out magnificent buildings where you can feel customized touches and the harmony of emotions.
Later on, one thousand and one nights tales were lived in these houses which adopted the combined empire culture, tracking its root back to ancient and medieval Arabic, Persian, Indian, Egyptian and Mesopotamian ethnicity.
Various guests from the Empire, ambassadors, diplomats and delegates have lived unforgettable days and nights here. The hospitality of the family and the style which was used, resounded around the whole country and the reputation became legendary among the high and aristocratic society.
Later, Emine Hanım, the daughter of Abdi Efendi got married to Mehmet Bey, one of the well-known cotton and silk dealers of Antalya. They carried on the family tradition and Ottoman life style, preserving the original beauty of the buildings until the current date.
In 1987, the grandson of Emine Hanım, Aziz Bey decided to proceed with the tradition and transformed these buildings into a hotel by restoring them, paying careful attention to keep its original atmosphere, which can be described as a synthesis of the architectural traditions of the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Here, it can be observed the technique of building vast inner spaces confined by massive domes, and achieving perfect harmony between inner and outer spaces, as well as articulated light and shadow.
Looking for an appropriate name to reflect the hospitality of his grandfather, the hotel is named TUVANA, the name of the Hittite Empire festival of the arrival of spring, celebrated by its entire people regardless of their race, religion, and language.
The majority of the furniture dates back to the time of Abdi Efendi, and was given to him as presents for the appreciation of his hospitality, and Tuvana Hotel described its mission as keeping the soul of these periods alive with the hospitable and charming perception. Now Tuvana Hotel welcomes its guest from all over the world to make feel their self’s piece of fairy tale.
Tuvana Hotel is located in the historic quarter of the city. The hotel offers 46 rooms which are all decorated with high quality, in a great harmony of the striking historical atmosphere and modernity.
