San Francisco, California: The Biotech Supply Chain Academy has named executives from Amgen and Kaiser Permanente to the Board of Advisors to direct its mission and the upcoming 2nd Annual Conference scheduled for October 19-20 at the South San Francisco Conference Center.
Devendra Mishra, the Executive Director of the Academy, in making the announcement stated, “The Academy is privileged to have the extraordinary leadership of Alison Moore and Laurel Junk to complement the current eminent Board of Advisors from the biotech industry and academia as they guide the biotech industry initiatives and ensure that all the stakeholders come together for a common good. The unique insight and experience of these Advisors will put us on a fast track.”
Alison Moore, the Vice President of Corporate Manufacturing at Amgen Inc., is responsible for supply chain, contract manufacturing and manufacturing technologies. Prior to this she was site head of the Amgen manufacturing facility in Fremont, California where she was responsible for the general management of a GMP-licensed biotechnology production facility, capable of manufacturing both bulk drug substance and drug product. A veteran of the biotech industry, Alison has served as Director of CMC Regulatory Affairs at Genentech, and from 1996 to 2005, Alison performed several roles in Amgen’s Process Development group in Thousand Oaks, California. Alison holds a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Manchester University, England and a B.Sc. in Pharmacology with Honors from Manchester University, England. She served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Medical University of Lübeck, Germany and at Genentech, Inc.
Laurel Junk joined Kaiser Permanente in early 2009 as Vice President of Procurement & Supply’s Supply Chain team. In this role, Laurel is directly responsible for the continuity of supply chain for the Northern and Southern regions of California as well as developing a supply chain strategy across all Kaiser Permanente regions in alignment with the needs of the organization. Other areas of focus include supporting the implementation of OneLink, a program wide enterprise resource planning initiative, establishing a common set of performance measures for the supply chain function, and driving for continuous process and cost improvement.
Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Laurel held the position of Vice President, Supply Chain and Contract Manufacturing for Amgen. In this capacity Laurel was responsible for Amgen's global supply chain management across all facilities, including planning, forecasting, inventory management, strategic capacity planning, raw materials and service parts, data management, risk management, brand protection, business continuity, global distribution/
The Advisory Board has announced that the 2009 Conference Program’s theme will be “Rx for a Lean & Healthy Biotech Supply Chain: Collaborating for Progress”. The conference will include tracks for Risk Management, Talent Management, Supplier Management, Clinical Trials Management, Cold Chain Storage, industry research and Information Systems Management. Industry leaders and eminent members of the academia will address the challenges and solutions through collaboration and cooperation between suppliers, manufacturers, and customers.
