Seashell Shack is proud to introduce a new line of Haitian steel drum metal art. This handmade steel drum metal art is made in Haiti and brought directly to you by Seashell Shack. These metal hanging sculptures reflect the wildlife and ways of the Haitian people.
The Haitian local artisans take left over 55 gallon steel drums and recycle them into a variety of different pieces of metal artwork. The metal drums are cut and flattened out to form a flat working surface. Then the design is drawn out onto the flattened steel drum and the the steel drum is cut up with chisels into the different shaped pieces depending on what the artist is trying to depict.
The cut pieces of steel drum are then hammered out into the desired shape to achieve some dimension. Once the steel has reached its final stage it is then hand painted with bright tropical colors to bring life to these pieces of recycled steel drum.
