The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation (SCHF) is honored to receive a proclamation from the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Vicksburg, Mississippi declaring October as Southern Cultural Heritage Month. This proclamation states that the SCHF Foundation inspires the citizens of Vicksburg and throughout the region through artistic, cultural and educational programs that uplift and transform our community; creates programs and events in all art forms that reflect many diverse experiences and perspectives;
The SCHF has organized the month of October completely full of events including dinner and luncheon theatres with John Maxwell, a writing workshop, a free concert by the MS School for Math and Science Stage Band and Choir, Classics in the Courtyard concert series, ballet for kids, a free tour day, free after school Art Program, the Annual Over the River Run, and a financial workshop.
The Foundation is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, and in part, from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and the generous support of the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation individual and corporate members, the City of Vicksburg, and various appropriations.
