Plans are underway for the 22nd annual Downriver Community Prayer Breakfast. Many key leaders, industry, labor, business, education, government and religious feel it is essential to allocate time for participation in a non-demominational program of spiritual renewal. This celebration gives us an opportunity to support continued moral growth in our community.
Members of the community, led by local clergy, will participate in this event Friday December 4, 2009. at Thomas' Crystal Gardens in Southgate. Breakfast is available at 7:00am and the program will begin at 8:00am and end promptly at 9:30am. With expanded capacity we have been exceeding 1400 in attendance each year. Past speakers have included Ernie Harwell, Gloria Gaither and more.
Our speaker this year, Michael Franzese, is an ex-mob leader, whose acceptance of Christ motivated him to renounce his mob affiliations. What would he have to say to a religious group? This is the ultimate good vs. evil true story that will tell a riviting tale of corruption and wrong doings and how becoming to know the Christian lifestyle forever changed his life and that of his family. This former “Prince of the Mafia,” is now a man on a mission. Determined to use the experiences of his former life for the benefit of others, Michael’s compelling testimony explodes from a deep passion to inspire others to make positive changes in their lives against intimidating odds. Michael’s amazing story and engaging delivery has brought record attendance to events all over the country. He is an author and has been featured in "Life" "Fortune", "GQ" and "Vanity Fair".
