The key word is everybody. According to the latest statistics by the Centers for Disease Control, more than 180,000 women and 1,800 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the United States. Roughly one quarter of those cases end in death. Experts say one of the best ways to stop breast cancer is through early detection.
“My mom was fortunate enough to be diagnosed early because of a routine mammogram. Not everyone is that fortunate,” Porter says. “Awareness and access to early screening is so important to increasing the survival rate.”
