Representatives from the Glenna Kohl Fund for Hope announced today that melanoma survivor and SHADE Foundation Founder, Shonda Schilling, will deliver the keynote address at the Fund’s Inaugural Angel's Masquerade Ball on October 17th at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at Ochre Court Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island to honor Glenna Kohl, who sadly lost her battle with melanoma on November 20, 2008.
"We are excited that Shonda will be speaking at what will be a magical evening to honor Glenna,” said Colleen Kohl, mother of Glenna Kohl and Co-Founder of the Glenna Kohl Fund for Hope. "This event will kick-off the fund’s mission to carry on Glenna’s commitment to raise awareness around the dangers of melanoma, the importance of early detection and prevention of this terrible disease."
The evening will include dinner, drinks, dancing, live and silent auctions, and entertainment provided by Boston band, Kahootz. Funds raised from the event will be allocated specifically to melanoma research, raising awareness of the dangerous effects of tanning, and a scholarship to Glenna's alma mater, Salve Regina University.
The Glenna Kohl Fund for Hope anticipates an excess of 400 guests, coming mainly from Massachusetts and Rhode Island with others traveling in from across the country. To register for the ball, please visit http://glennasfund.org/
