Tutors International is urging parents considering the hiring of a full-time private tutor to make contact as soon as possible, even if the tutor is not required until autumn 2010. Many parents neglect to begin the process of recruitment until the term before the private tuition needs to begin, resulting in increased expense and sometimes a reduction in choice. "It may seem odd to be pressing parents to get in touch many months in advance of actually needing the tutor, but in our experience it makes the entire recruitment process so much smoother, and results in a wider choice of candidates,"
When asked why so many parents don't plan far enough in advance, Adam replied; "I think many parents simply aren't aware of the fact that academic recruitment has a seasonal cycle, and that many of the best tutors already hold teaching positions in schools that require a term's notice period. I know several enquiries have come in late as parents have been uncertain about whether a full-time tutor will be required. They may be considering a year long trip around the world, but have been reluctant to start tutor recruitment until their plans are finalised. I would recommend to any parents who think there might be a change in circumstances that would require home schooling by a full-time private tutor to get in touch and begin the process as soon as possible. If later they realise that need isn't there, they can easily withdraw," Adam reassured. "But if they leave it late and then decide they really do a need a tutor, it makes everything much harder."
