Mr Cannon completed his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering. He then took a year to travel where he was exposed to different cultures and lifestyles. Like many people his age, James was unsure about his future and after several interviews, he decided to take a chance and accept the offer from Aspire to participate in their Graduate Business Development Program.
Even though Mr Cannon began with no sales or marketing experience, he was willing to work hard and learn new skills as he advanced. He soon found he was able to use some of the skills he gained whilst travelling to relate to different customers from different backgrounds.
Aspire’s owner, Olumide Fakeye recalls: “James really blossomed in our team environment and is a pleasure to work with. I believe it wasn’t just his hard work that got him to this stage, but also his winning mentality. He was tired of being referred to as the ‘Nearly Man’ for the times in the past that he nearly finished things and he committed to completing the program."
After the announcement of his new role to the rest of the company, James had a few words to add: “When I finally managed to put my ego aside and become a student of the business, I started to achieve the growth that I wanted. If I’d thrown it all away, I know that I would regret it later because the only way to lose here is by giving up!”
We are confident that with the strengths James possesses, he will not stop at this level, but will keep pushing himself to be one of the best examples of our business we’ve ever had.
