MARCPO 2009 Will Feature Well Known Speakers & Strong Educational Programming

The 2009 Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference for Professional Organizers, hosted by NAPO-WDC, will feature several well recognized speakers and strong educational content.

Washington, DC – The National Association of Professional Organizers, Washington, DC – Metro Chapter (NAPO-WDC), the premier resource in the DC Metro area for organizing professionals, will host the 11th annual Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference for Professional Organizers (MARCPO) on Saturday, October 17, 2009.  The event will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel & Executive Meeting Seminar Center in Bethesda, Maryland.  The day-long event titled, "Broadening Your Vision: Expand. Exceed. Excel.," will feature several well recognized speakers and strong educational programming geared toward both new and expert organizers.

MARCPO 2009 will begin with Opening Keynote Speaker, author, TV host, and entrepreneur, Krista Green. Krista was named by Calgary Inc. magazine as one of their “Top 40 Under 40” outstanding young business professionals.  A Silver Leaf Member of Professional Organizers in Canada (POC) for 7 years, Krista was a POC National Board Member (Director of Marketing & Brand Development) for two terms, was Chapter Chair for Western Canada, and was nominated for outstanding achievement in the field of Professional Organizing as a finalist for the prestigious POC Harold Taylor Award in 2008.  Krista’s presentation, Taking Your Organizing Business to the Next Level, is sure to be very motivating.

Those in attendance will have a choice of several concurrent sessions following the opening keynote address.  The topics of discussion will offer those interested in becoming a professional organizer more insight into the industry and provide current organizers with the opportunity to potentially earn CPO® credits.  These topics  include "Marketing That Matters: Lessons from a Puffin" presented by Dr. Meggin McIntosh, also known as the “The Ph.D. of Productivity,”™  "The Boomer Burden - Turning the Burden to Gold" by Julie Hall, “The Estate Lady,”  "Mingling with the Media," by Erin Rooney Doland, author and Unclutterer Editor in Chief, "Putting Some Green In Your Organizing Business" presented by the “Queen of Clean,” Candita Clayton, "Detox Your Inbox" by trainer and Certified Professional Organizer®, Lauren Halagarda, and "Perfecting Your Elevator Speech," by Ellen Kaminsky, “The Elevator Speech Therapist.”

Julie Morgenstern, New York Times best-selling author and renowned organizing and time management expert will conclude the event with her closing keynote presentation, "Embracing the Times: Finding Opportunity in the New Economy."  As a speaker, media expert and corporate spokesperson, Julie is known for her passionate, articulate style and warm sense of humor.  She is renowned for an “inside-out” approach to problems and generating customized solutions that are practical, insightful and easy-to-maintain.    She has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time, Business Week, Glamour, O, The Oprah Magazine, and Men’s Health.  Julie also makes frequent appearances on national television and radio programs, including the Today Show, Rachel Ray, and NPR’s Fresh Air.  Julie’s presentation will offer practical and attention-grabbing information that will likely be of interest to every organizer.
