World Music Website By Multicultural Artist - Daria - Wins A Parents Choice Award

This year the Parent’s Choice Foundation spotlighted their picks for the best children’s websites and one of the top honors went to popular children’s performer DARIA (Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou) for her unique, interactive “world music for kids” website.   Bright, colorful and easy to navigate, the website was designed to be a resource-rich place to explore mutlicultural music through songs, games, activities, and a variety of features that can be enjoyed by parents, kids, students, teachers, homeschoolers, community groups and kids of all abilities.

“We wanted to design something that was more then the usual musician’s website” says DARIA who has also garnered several national awards for her music that spans several continents and about eight  languages.  “Instead of a site all about an individual performer, we wanted to create a dynamic kid-oriented space on the web where folks could discover great music, explore cultures, make instruments, and generally have fun with the process of music-making”.  The result was a series of activities and locations on the website ranging from coloring pages and printable teacher resources to online activities, a giant songbook of favorite tunes, a silly song section and a set of special keys for particular visitors, such as early education teachers and special needs kids.  Based on reviews and this recent award, the site is a hit both locally and internationally, receiving attention from parents, kids, educators, and community groups as far away as Australia and South Africa.
