New York - Hearst Magazines Digital Media, a unit of Hearst Magazines, and ModiFace Inc. today announced the launch of a technologically-
“We chose ModiFace as our partner in part because they conducted extensive scientific research while developing their beauty makeover tool and we believe that research really paid off. No other tool on the market automatically calibrates the positioning of the face once a photo has been uploaded. The ModiFace tool does this with a level of sophistication and visualization that is not available in other applications,”
“Another key element of the technology is the inclusion of branded cosmetics,” said Dr. Parham Aarabi, CEO and founder of ModiFace Inc. “We have five PhDs working at improving our technology on a daily basis and a team of tech experts who are continually updating the tool with the latest styles and products. Our ongoing partnership with Hearst will ensure that all of their participating sites feature the latest color trends and styles for users to interact with.”
On this easy-to-use tool, users can simply upload their photos for facial processing. Once the photos are uploaded, the technology--using patented algorithms--detects the face, lips, eyes, and nose and automatically selects regions on which to apply makeup. These algorithms are based on nearly a decade of research at Stanford University and the University of Toronto and are what truly differentiate the product from others on the market. Once the facial features are detected, the tool selectively applies makeup or other effects to the face in a matter of seconds, and shows the user her before and after photos. Users can then email the result to friends or family, print a list of products used on the face, or share their personal beauty results on Facebook or Twitter.
