Vicente Fernandez to perform social concert in Bogota, Colombia September 25th,2009

Vicente Fernandez, Mexico’s most beloved “Ranchero” shares his heart and music with the people of Bogota

Ranchero music to land in Colombia as Over 60,000 of Bogota`s citizens await the arrival of Vicente Fernandez known throughout Latin Amerca as EL REY.  The city of Bogota has prepared a special concert as well as a social agenda for the world famous singer as part of the South American capitals Bicential celebrations.


Vicente Fernandez known for his unique and captivating ranchero style music is also know for his strong commitment to social causes specifically with the elderly. As part of his social and cultural mission to Bogota, as the guest of the Mayor Vicente will be performing in Bogota to an audience consisting of mainly lower income families. This concert will allow 10`s of thousands (60,000 etc.) will have an opportunity to attend his performance which under normal circumstances would be cost prohibitive for most of the lower income families attending.

Another highly important element of the Vicente Fernandez visit to Bogota is his social agenda, which will include visits to the elderly and the most vunerable of Bogota. This part of his visit is anticipated to leave a long lasting mark of good will to many people in Bogota.

The visit has already gained strong international and national press via his concert and social agenda. During his visit Vicente will gain a stronger perspective on the growing public sector support of causes and issues such as the elderly, health and social programs.

As Bogota, the city of rights opens its doors to internationally recognized performers and Stars it also draws significant positive attention to the the social work and advancement in the quality of life for the citizensof Bogota. A visit from Vicente Fernandez is not only a wonderful gift to the citizens of Bogota it is a opportunity for him to share with Bogota his ability to reach the masses through music and heart.





In honor of the Bicential of Bogota, the Mayor office has offered the citizens of Bogota a series of large scale events aimed at national and international recognition of Bogota, through it Bogota positive program.  The city of Bogota has gained international attention through a series of international events this summer such as the highly successful visit by popular artist Hilary Duff, the social concert by Mexican legend Vicente Fernandez and the highly anticipated visit by the Ballet Biaritz



Vicente Fernández Gómez (born February 17, 1940),[1] simply known as Vicente Fernández, is a Mexican singer and actor. Known as el "El Idolo de Mexico" (the idol of Mexico) and "El Rey" (The King) throughout the Latin world, Vicente Fernandez, who started his career singing for tips on the street, has become a Mexican cultural icon, recording more than 50 albums and contributing to 40 movies. He is the father of singer Alejandro Fernández. Although less well known to English-speaking audiences, he has consistently filled stadiums and venues throughout his 35-plus years of performing. His repertoire is pure ranchera, a style described by Daniel Chang of the Miami Herald as representing "the Mexico of old – a way of life romanticized by rural ranches, revolution, and philandering caballeros". He has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.
