Follow on Google News | XTremBol Street Soccer is coming to Morris County! The phenomenon known as XTremBol is coming to Morris County! The second annual XTremBol street soccer tournament is coming to Central Park of Morris County, on the former Greystone Park campus in Parsippany this Saturday, September 26, 2009.
By: XTremBol Productions Throughout Europe and Latin America soccer has been played on the streets for years. With little or no supervision, children, teens, and adults play pick-up games of soccer each and every day. Those who played street soccer developed a certain elasticity, but most of all, they developed a certain culture around the game that transformed it into an enduring passion. Street soccer has been quietly growing in the United States over the past several years and has a loyal base of supporters. Last year, XTremBol held its first tournament at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ and it was a great success. This year, XTremBol has moved the games to the rinks of the new Central Park of Morris County, which opened last year on the grounds of the old Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital campus. “Millions of American adults today remember the good old days of sand lot baseball, pick-up basketball and neighborhood football games where the kids set the mood, culture and rules. XTremBol is no different. It’s an effort to promote a sport that people love and foster and indelible culture around it,” explains Andres Torres, one of the founders of XTremBol. The XTremBol games feature four person teams playing fast action caged street soccer on a concrete or asphalt surface played with a low-bounce ball that is much smaller and heavier than your average soccer ball. There are no goalies and the games are played non-stop. Visit www.XTrembol.com for more information. End
