During the wind season KITOONS runs a tent camp at a secret spot in a military zone in South Vietnam. They have found one of the best kiteboarding spots in Asia and want to take you there. This destination has absolutely great wind. They had to get arrested by the army to find this place. It's in a security border zone, so you cannot even go there unless you have a government permit! Well, why sitting a beach and wait for wind, when you could be blown out of your pads?
KITOONS leased a beachfront to make you comfortable right at the spot. The KITOONS CAMP offers amenities like a large restaurant, offering foreign and Vietnamese cuisine, a TV and chill out area, a pool table, massages, shower rooms, bathrooms, kite storage, an air compressor, you name it. You will be accommodated in private large army-style tents with a comfortable queen size bed or 2 single beds. Prices are very reasonable, depending on your needs and length of stay. Share a day, a week, a month with fellow kitesurfers from around the globe. Have the whole Vietnam adventure: see how the people live, eat local food, experience the culture and have a damn good time after your sessions. The kitesurf location is 20km south of Phan Rang and 120 km north of Phan Thiet/Mui Ne. You can fly to Nha Trang and take an hour taxi ride from the airport.
The KITOONS CAMP is for intermediate and advanced kitesurfers. You must be able to get upwind and be able to perform a self-rescue. Of course they are always there to assist you, but they can't save beginners during the big down-winders. All their staffs are experienced IKO kitesurfing instructors. Intermediate and advanced lessons can be provided.
The best time to come to Vietnam for wind is till mid April. A typically moderate morning wind will pick up during the day and get strong in the afternoon, averaging 25 to 35 knots! So bring whatever kiteboarding equipment you have. There can be a bit of swell, so you might bring your wave riding board along.
