Smithtown, NY — On September 26, North Shore Surgi-Center will hold its 3rd Annual Golf Outing at Great Rock Golf Course in Wading River. Proceeds go to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) International. The day kicks off with a luncheon on the patio along with a putting contest, starting at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Over the past two years, North Shore Surgi-Center has raised $20,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Juvenile diabetes — also known as Type 1 diabetes — is a disease which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily. Complications from diabetes may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke and possibly even amputation.
In addition to the JDRF, North Shore Surgi-Center will be advocating for the National Breast Cancer Foundation through support of one of their dedicated employees, Mary Mango, RN. Mary and her team of walkers will strive to raise money and awareness of this devastating disease. Breast cancer continues to be the second leading cause of cancer death in women.
The tournament will hold a Longest Drive and Closest To The Pin Competition, along with “Beat The Pro for Charity.” In addition to the golf tournament, there will be a two-hour cocktail hour, dinner and dessert at Blackwells Restaurant, giveaways, raffles and a silent auction.
Tickets are $175 per golfer which includes a round of golf, a golf shirt, a two-hour cocktail reception, buffet dinner and dessert. Non-golfers are invited for the extended cocktail hour, dinner and dessert for $55 each, which begins at 5 p.m.
