Giant Realm Debuts “Macrostitial” Ad Unit, Offering Reach, Size and Interactivity

New Custom Unit Combines the Best Features of Both an Interstitial and a Website, Keeping Audiences Engaged, Clicking and Buying

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Sep 23, 2009 – Giant Realm, Inc., a leader in delivering young male first movers to advertisers via its network of premier entertainment enthusiast communities, today rolled out its new, multi-faceted ad unit or ‘macrostitial.’  As opposed to a single piece of creative, the macrostitial combines the reach and size of an interstitial with the content and interactivity of a full-fledged website.

The sprawling destination – featuring video, images, editorial pieces and other content as well as community and social media options – automatically launches when a website within the Giant Realm Publisher Group is visited.   By keeping consumers engaged with the brand’s product for longer than a typical ad, the macrostitial creates better retention and, ultimately, helps convert visitors into paid customers through both the ‘Buy Now’ buttons and links to the product’s website.

“Unlike movies, TV or radio, the web offers an active experience, and ads that mimic this high level of interactivity will make a stronger impression on consumers,” said James Green, CEO, Giant Realm, Inc.  “We reach millions of young men who spend much of their online time focused on their specific interests, such as video games, comic books or movies.  The macrostitial becomes a new, compelling destination for them to explore and become fully immersed in.”

Morgan Quisenberry, Starcom IP Supervisor, added: “This is probably one of the most innovative ad units I’ve seen in a while.  It doesn't even look like an advertisement, it looks like an actual website.  It’s definitely more engaging than a traditional interstitial.”

Once the macrostitial launches, it remains live for three minutes after the last interaction with it or until the visitor chooses to close out of it.  Content, such as video accompanied by audio, is immediately served in order to capture the visitor’s attention quickly.  There is an option to click on other videos, explore other areas of the site such as a photo gallery and feature articles, and interact with others in the community area.  Information can be easily shared with friends via social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.  In addition, there is a “Buy Now” button and a link to product’s website, allowing the visitor to explore even more information and purchase the item.

Content featured on the custom ad unit is provided by the advertiser as well as created internally by Giant Realm.  More information about the macrostitial, including an interactive demo, can be found at http://giantrealm.com/customads/.
