FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 24, 2009 -
Tropical storm Ernesto rolled across the Outer Banks and dumped up to 10 inches of rain in areas. This resulted in some of the low lying areas in and around Corolla being inundated with flood waters. This standing water made it's way into the living areas of some of the homes built right on the ground.

While this storm occurred in 2006 the effects are still being felt today. Parts of Ocean Sands and Whalehead in Corolla received more water than the area could handle. The resulting flood waters dissipated quickly but left behind ruined carpet, sheet rock and furniture. The damage has been cleaned up and painted over so no one can notice any damage.

But the problems have not gone away. A lot of the sellers in these areas of Corolla are not disclosing the flooding which occurred in their homes. Some of their listing agents are ignoring the possibility of a past flood or they are simply do not know about the flooding to ask the sellers if the property has flooded. Some have even claimed it happened to "the whole neighborhood so it doesn't have to be disclosed" or "it was professionally repaired" or, it was a "100 year storm occurrence and will never happen again'. Not much help for someone who wants to buy a house in Corolla.

Without help from the selling side it means someone looking to buy real estate in Corolla needs to be on the lookout for possible wet houses. If the seller won't tell a buyer their house was flooded it leaves it up to the buyers to try to locate a dry property and avoid the flood victims. This is where it is a good idea to use the services of an experienced real estate.

Overall, we are talking about a small percentage of homes affected but there are still 100+- homes in Corolla with this problem. There is too much to go into in this article about what to look for when you are shopping around in Corolla to buy some real estate so the best thing to do is give us a call.
