Sept. 23, 2009 - PRLog -- HUNTINGTON BEACH, California – Hope View Elementary School unexpectedly lost one of it’s beloved mothers, Lisa Nelson, on Friday, September 11, 2009 to Brain Cancer, leaving behind her husband, Bryan and son, Max. Max is going into the Third Grade and suffers from Brittle Bone Disease. Those who know him would say that he is always wheeling around with a smile on his face. Lisa was his primary caretaker, helping him at home and at school. This tragedy has not only struck on their family, but on the school families and surrounding communities.

Within hours of her passing, parents from Hope View Elementary school had stepped into action, knowing that the Nelson Family would need not only the support of family and friends, but financial help as well. A Memorial Fund was set up in Lisa’s name and planning a Celebration of Life Fundraiser was set into action.

Max, who has also been in need of a new wheelchair since Kindergarten, will be getting one soon thanks to the generosity of fellow families. This will enable him to use the District Buses to get to and from school as needed, and allow for his comfort and ability to be more self-sufficient.

Last week, the team of parents planning the Celebration of LIfe Fundraiser announced that it is going to be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Murdy Park in Huntington Beach from 12pm to 4pm. Through the help of the community and local businesses, all food, activities, raffle and silent auction items are being donated, allowing all of the proceeds to go directly into the Memorial Fund. The event will be picnic style with a variety of food and drinks for sale. Further details will be posted on the website www.LisaNelsonMemorial.com as they become available.

The goal of the Memorial Fund is not only to help the Nelson Family with immediate expenses and to get them back on their feet, but also to make sure Lisa's beloved son Max is taken care of now and well into his future.
