Los Angeles, CA – Social Control has just completed work on an iPhone application for the action sports career and business website, Malakye.com. The application marks the first iPhone app launched under the newly formed digital creative agency.
Uniquely positioned, Malakye is currently the leading resource for job seekers who are looking to either begin or continue a career in action sports. Specifically serving all segments of the industry including skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding, the site has more than 1,400 companies that add to Malakye’s extensive database of open positions.
The career site partnered with Social Control to create an application that would integrate the usability functions of Malakye.com and adapt them to fit within a mobile platform. Intended to perform similarly to the company’s web site, the application features a searchable job database that allows users to view complete company profiles and email links to open positions. The app also includes a mobile version of Malakye’s business-to-
Eager to meet all strategic objectives, the digital agency began its defined processes to ensure that the technology they deployed would exceed expectations. In the discovery phase of the project, the Social Control team developed an information strategy encompassing architectural documents including a sitemap, wire frames, functional specifications and flowcharts. Though challenging, Malakye eased the process by providing Social Control with access and updates to their evolving API (Application Protocol Interface). The synergy between the two teams combined to produce the finished application, while maintaining usability standards and ease of use. “Social Control did it right, and on-time” said Chad Mihalick, president of Malakye.com
Many development teams have created apps that perform increasingly varied tasks in an attempt to stand out amongst the over 65,000 applications available for the iPhone. However, president and CEO of Social Control Seth Silver feels confident about the Malakye app, asserting, “This app is truly unique in that it is the first iPhone application designed specifically for the action sports individuals looking for careers.” He continued, “This niche is also large enough to ensure a sizeable and receptive audience for the application.”
