Collections Guru Set to Share Best Practices at NPSA Conference

PR Log (Press Release) – Sep 22, 2009 – KANSAS CITY, MO.  – The National Portable Storage Association (NPSA) has announced Michelle Lewis of RG Millennium, Inc. will present a workshop about solving collections issues at its 7th Annual Conference and Exposition at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from October 25-27, 2009. Lewis' workshop is entitled, "Collections Issues: We all have them. How to solve them."

"Collections issues are an unfortunate fact of life for all businesses and the portable storage industry has seen its fair share of this problem," said John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director the NPSA, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the portable storage industry. "Michelle understands how to deal with collections issues in a way that preserves relationships when possible, but collects what you are owed. We are excited to have her share with us."

Lewis will help attendees get the edge in collecting delinquent receivables. RG Millennium, a full service collections agency, has a strong track record. Eighty-seven percent of accounts it handles are collected within the first business week. Lewis will discuss persuasion techniques such as credit reporting, legal forwarding and 10-day demand letters, as well as how to determine a debtor's ability to pay and broker payment negotiations.

The NPSA also encourages members to visit the STAR Database, a problem accounts database, that helps members avoid scams, deadbeat vendors and other billing problems. It allows members to search for the names of companies to determine if other members have had fraud, money collection or other accounting problems with them in the past.
