DojoCon 2009 will bring together information security professionals on Nov. 6 and 7, 2009, at Capitol College in Laurel, Md. The event will be the first-ever DojoCon.

The theme of the symposium is “The State of Information Security” and a slate of relevant
panel discussions is planned including: "The State of Incident Response & Forensics," "The State of Security Compliance" and "The State of Cloud Computing."

Notable speakers at the conference will consist of Richard Bejtlich, Director of Incident Response at General Electric; Ron Gula, CEO at Tenable Network Security; Marcus J. Ranum, CSO at Tenable Network Security; Matt Watchinski, Director at Sourcefire VRT; and Dale Beauchamp, Branch Chief of Forensics at the Transportation Security Administration.

“The goal of this conference is for people to learn from the industry's finest. At DojoCon, attendees will hear from experts that really have contributed to the overall security industry,” said Marcus J. Carey, who organized the conference.

Carey calls DojoCon the biggest small conference in the information security industry because it pulls together world-class speakers in a reasonably priced, intimate setting. “Each speaker at DojoCon is regarded as one of the top in their particular niche in this wide field. Attendees will get to ask questions directly to the top executives and practitioners of the industry.”

Carey founded the Information consulting and research firm, Saecur, located in Hanover,
Md. In 2008, he began DojoSec, a monthly meeting covering the information security arena.
For the event, Carey teamed up with Johnny Long, whose organization Hackers for Charity
supplies technological equipment and food to impoverished countries. Carey will donate $50 to Hackers for Charity for every person that registers for the event. The goal is to have 300 attendees register to meet a $15,000 goal.

“It has long been a goal of mine to be able to make a significant financial contribution to
Hackers for Charity. DojoCon will start the process of making that goal come true,” said
Carey.
