Sept. 21, 2009 - PRLog -- DALLAS, Texas – Want a little Latin flavor in your life – at no charge? Try a free piece of Pollo Campero’s famous chicken on Sept. 23, and discover the difference hand-breading and Latin herbs and spices can make to chicken.

On that Wednesday, each Pollo Campero customer can enjoy one free fried chicken leg or thigh at any of the legendary Latin chain’s more than 50 U.S. restaurants. The free chicken will be available all day for dine-in, take-out or drive-through. There will be a limit of one piece of chicken per person at participating restaurants.

“Most fast-food chicken has become pretty ordinary – but it certainly doesn’t have to be,” said Roberto Denegri, Campero USA president and COO. “For National Chicken Month, we are daring America to try something different. Forget eating the same old fried chicken. Put some new Latin flavor in your life – on us.”

The free chicken giveaway is part of Pollo Campero’s grand fiesta in celebration of National Chicken Month. Chicken has become a primary staple in the American diet. The average American consumes more than 86 pounds of chicken a year – 44 percent of that at restaurants, according to the National Chicken Council.

“If you haven’t tried Pollo Campero, you’re missing out on the best fried chicken in America,” Denegri said. “It’s a completely different taste sensation when compared with the competition. And this is America’s chance to try it for free. Once new customers have had a taste, we know they’ll agree that we have the Flavor You Can’t Campero.”

Long considered a Latin American treasure, Pollo Campero launched its first restaurant in the United States in 2002. For years prior to that, visitors to Latin America were known to stuff their carry-on luggage with Campero chicken for the flight home. As stores have opened in new cities like Los Angeles and Boston, Pollo Campero fans have lined up for hours to experience their first taste of Latin chicken on U.S. soil.

Unlike other fast food chicken restaurants, Pollo Campero’s food is freshly prepared each day. Chicken is marinated, sending the distinctive Campero flavor all the way to the bone. Fried chicken is hand-breaded in seasoned flour and slowly pressure-cooked without trans-fats, resulting in a flavorful and juicy meal. Fried chicken is available on the bone, in sandwiches, bowls, burritos or in boneless strips.

Grilled chicken features the taste of lime and orange juices, red bell peppers, and a proprietary blend of Latin herbs and spices. It is available on the bone, in sandwiches, bowls, burritos and in Caesar salads.

Side dishes include a mix of Latin and traditional American dishes, including Campero beans, black beans and white rice, yuca fries, sweet plantains, cole slaw, french fries and mashed potatoes. Customers can choose from soft drinks, iced tea or specialty Latin drinks including horchata and tamarindo.
