(New York, NY, Sept. 21, 2009)---Treana Peake, the stylish Canadian clothing designer, has teamed up with her husband, Ryan Peake, of rock band “Nickelback” fame, to form the Obakki Foundation to benefit orphaned children of Cameroon, Africa.

To kickoff the foundation internationally, the couple will host a benefit event on Mon., Sept. 21, from 7:00 - 10:00 in New York at the Soho Grand Hotel and preview the 2010 Obakki (www.obakki.com) collection.

Among the event’s special guests are “King of Rock” 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Darryl McDaniels, of Run DMC, who’ll perform live at the event, “Nickelback's Ryan Peake,”  a member of Canada’s most successful rock band, having sold 30 million records worldwide, actresses Jill Hennessy, Kelly Rutherford, Ana Ortiz, Treana Peake, and many more.

The Obakki Foundation is the brainchild of Treana Peake, who is one of the fashion world0s most dynamic talents and the founder of Canada’s most influential fashion house, Obakki.

“Obakki men's and women's collections are the perfect juxtaposition -- elegant yet relaxed, refined yet rustic, polished yet casual,” she says.

According to its mission statement, the OBAKKI FOUNDATION is committed to partner with individuals, groups and communities to assist children and adults in local villages of developing nations in becoming self-sufficient while providing their fundamental rights of health and education.

Among its first priorities is assisting orphaned children in Cameroon through Obakki-sponsored events, designs and marketing initiatives all influenced by the words and images of the African children which the foundation has “adopted” as its primary beneficiary.

In December, the Peakes and other celebrated Obakki Foundation partners will visit Africa for a first hand look at the early impact of Obakki Foundation efforts there.
