A new website appears among the contenders for Google Custom Searches with an interesting add-on, distributed music streams. The concept is real simple offering a platform for web browsing that allows the user to stream music from a list of online radio stations while looking for the information needed. Combined with a user-friendly interface, an attractive graphics design, and the powerful Google search engine; the simple concept is likely to arise the interests of the young adult generations, college students, and the professional public in particular.
The website seems to want to preserve the anonymity of its owners as corresponding information does not appear on the sites. Offered through a three-tier domain, it brings to consider that the website is in fact a beta version, or maybe apart of the Google Experimental initiatives. Better yet, is it a new marketing campaign from the company to respond to the launch of the Bing platform? As of today, the Google, Inc company has made no statements as to the concerns of the website and it is unclear whether the website is an internal or external endeavor.
Despite the attractive look, and the basic function as a search engine, the website remains a little frail. I mean its great, web searching with music; do the web users really care about streaming tunes while they're hunting for time-sensitive information?
It is unpredictable whether this experiment would catch on, although it seems it would be of interest to the top social networking websites as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, that have seemed to go after any web function, concept, or idea that would impact user retention. Can we expect the experiment to lead to yet another social networking platform? Now wouldn't that be a catch? A community of search engine addicts with a common taste for searches in tunes!
