Federal Student Aid, Government Grant Programs

If you are an individual who wants to attend school but afraid of the huge sums it requires receiving a college degree, I want you to know the Federal student aid grant program is help reduce the cost of attending college and get you ready for the job market.

The Federal student aid grant programs may not be able to pay for the entire degree, but they will be able to cover a great deal of the cost to attend college. They are other type of scholarships you can apply for that will help to pick up the difference from what the federal student aid will cover. On my next article, I will have a list of all the places you can apply for all the scholarships you can.

http://www.studentloansinfo.org will give you a brief description of all the federal student aid grant programs that are available. Again, the federal government provides grant funds for students attending colleges, including career colleges and Universities. Grants, unlike loans, do not have to be repaid.

Federal Pell Grant
Award Limit is between $ 976 to $ 5,350
Generally awarded to students who have not earned a bachelor’s or graduate degree?
If you are eligible for a Pell Grant, you will receive the full amount for which you qualify

Academic Competitiveness Grant
First year Up to $750
Must be eligible for a Pell Grant
Must have graduated from high school after Jan. 1, 2006
Must have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study
Must be enrolled in an eligible program at least half-time

Second year Up to $1300
Must be eligible for a Pell Grant
Must have graduated from high school after Jan. 1, 2005
Must have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study
Must be enrolled in an eligible program at least half-time
Must have at least a 3.0 GPA at the end of the first year
of postsecondary study

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) $200 to $4000
For undergraduates with exceptional financial need
Federal Pell Grant recipients receive priority
Not all colleges participate in the FSEOG program
Funds depend on availability at the college; you should apply by your college’s deadline, so that you are considered
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant  http://www.studentloansinfo.org/Student-aid.html
