If you travel, you have heard and seen and probably been to the top of the Ancient hilside where the western world's democracy was born in the Cradle of Civllization!
Diane let us into the world's best kept secret for a century! A large amount of bridal couples amongst the entourage of international visitors from across the globe are flocking to Athens to see the amazing brand new Acropolis Museum opened 2009 and to stand on the ancient Acropolis hillside. To their utter dismay they have all expressed their concern and great disappointment that they feel the British Museum is basically forcing them to visit Britain to see the stripped parts of this magnificent structure displayed in London, which are missing from the ancient hill since 1801-1804. History has it that the brutal act of Thomas Bruce, the second Earl of Eglin, in 1801-1804 knowingly defaced and desecrated the ancient Athenian site by ripping off either a head or a leg or a torso, here and there from each of the magnificent Parthenon marble art forms. The British Lord then took it upon himself to ship them off from their birthplace Athens to London. Today the traveller's concern centers around the insensitivity of the British Government in collaboration with the British Museum to do absolutely nothing to rectify this wrong especially taking into account the high cost it takes to pay an extra air ticket for travelers to fly to London, during the present bad world economy, solely to view these snatched and stripped objects which should be viewed as one piece in Greece, where they were composed. A simple solution to the world’s problem at large “to prevent us all from loosing our marbles, over high travel costs” would be for the United Kingdom to return the snatched Marbles to Athens where they belong and assist these highly disappointed travelers by reducing these rediculous costs. The only other possible solution would be to commission the help of all the worlds archeologists to uproot, uplift and fly the whole ancient Acropolis hill with the newly completed Athens Museum, lock stock and barrel, to London, to renuite them with their missing pieces! As realistically this is not an option, surely the British museum should immediately fly these individual snatched pieces back to Greece without delay to please the world traveller at large! It’s as simple as that. No wonder Shirley Valentine had to leave her home in London town and make that life changing trip to Greece to gain a sense of direction and learn to do what is right!
Readers can visit www.parthenonuk.com and acquaint themselves with the stubborn attitude of the Brits who have retained and denied the return of these pieces of Greek artifacts since they brutally tore off bits and pieces and mounted them in the British Musuem. The website shows exactly what was snatched from the ancient cradle of civilization, and is now costing world visitors to Greece a pretty penny at the expense of the British Museum. Surely this negates the Brits claim of being the only museum with free entry in Europe! Who needs free entry to a museum when it costs an arm and a leg, to travel to London to see a snatched Greek marble arm and a snatched Greek marble leg or a snatched headless Greek marble body (torso)? So wake up Brits and acknowledge this to be penny wise and pound foolish for any wise traveler!
