Graduate Student to Turn Real World Experience Into Engineering School Projects

Caleb Woodruff’s home town is White Salmon, Washington, just across the Coumbia River from Hood River, where Alticam Vision Corporation designs and manufactures state-of-the-art turret systems for unmanned aircraft.  During his summers, while completing his BS in Engineering at Walla Walla University, Caleb gained hands-on experience by working at Alticam Vision.

“At school I learned theory.  Even though we designed and built projects, in school you don’t have to ship off your finished product.  There’s no real world test of what you’ve made,“ Caleb said on his final day working with Alticam Vision.  The next day he would head to the University of Washington and begin study for a graduate degree in the Aeronautics and Astronautics program.

“I helped assemble camera turrets to begin with.  Over my six years here I’ve been challenged by a number of assignments that allowed me to assist on custom sensor applications and even write software for operator interface contol systems.  I hope to use my knowledge about Alticam Vision products in graduate projects.  Maybe I’ll use some Alticam Vision technology in a project of my own.”
