Local digital media agency Tecmark Systems Ltd and a selection of students from Trafford College have joined forces for 3 months to work on an Apple iPhone application development project. This will give Manchester’s future developers and digital media experts a real hands-on head start.
iPhones and the development of iPhone Apps are big business at the moment with over a million iPhone users in the UK and iPhone users accounting for over half of the UK’s mobile internet usage. iPhones are especially popular within business communities, due to the ease of using email, internet and softwareapplications on the device.
Stuart Drummond, a lecturer at Trafford College contacted Tecmark Director Kevin Jones with a proposition that was timed to perfection. This will give the students the opportunity to work with Tecmark’s in house team both on campus, through workshops and at Tecmark’s city centre offices. The students will be given a real life brief to work towards and may even have their work used by the prospective client.

“There is a clear demand for industry aware new talent in Manchester’s creative sector. As a college it is our responsibility to introduce students to working practices, in order to make their skills relevant, useful and desirable. Tecmark have been extremely enthusiastic in pursuing links with the college, links that will proveexciting and invaluable to our prospective contributors to Manchester’s creative industries”.
