With the help of the Stem Cell Therapy now Neurological diseases can be treated and Dr. Vaijayantee Belle, a senior consultant neurosurgeon representing Stemone Biological Pune will give a lecture on Stem Cell treatments in Neurological Diseases-Challenges & Potential in Stem Cell Global Symposium, SCGS-2009 going to be organized on November 07, 2009, first time in North India.
Dr. V.K. Belle is trained in Christian Medical College, Hospital, Vellore- one of the premier medical research institutes of India, where she completed her neurosurgical residency and also worked as faculty in the department of neurosciences. She was nominated for Welcome research fellowship for experimental research in Parkinson's disease at Kings College, London, and Institute of Neurology, Queen's square. She was also awarded clinical fellowship at London health science center, Toronto. She has published many scientific papers in international journals. She is one of the founder members of Asian Women Neurosurgical Society. She is one of the core group founder members of Sahyadri group of hospitals and is also attached to several other hospitals in Pune as honorary consultant. She is one of the teaching faculties in neurosurgical training program.
Dr. Belle's special interest has been restorative neurology and functional neurosurgery. The first Deep brain stimulator implantation for Parkinson's disease, in Pune was done by her. She established advanced intra-operative neurosurgical monitoring system protocols at sahyadri hospital- one of the five in India. She developed and established neuro-rahabilitation department- based on coordination dynamics therapy- the best center in Pune, and only one in India-offering this (CDT) treatment
Since last 3 years Dr. Belle is actively engaged in clinical research and trials of stem cell therapy in neurological diseases -spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, stroke etc. She has done the highest number of clinical cases of stem cell therapy in Pune city, and her novel stem cell clinical research proposal is being evaluated by Dept of Science and Technology, Govt of India
