"Visual Effects Supervisor Boot Camp" Announced by Industry Veteran Lee Stranahan

Affordable, unique Visual Effects Supervisor training program to be held December 4-6 at Film School Boot Camp, a fully-functional simulated movie set located in Sante Fe, New Mexico. Students will work with professional gear and crew.

PR Log (Press Release)Sep 18, 2009 – Santa Fe, New Mexico – Accomplished visual effects expert, writer and film maker Lee Stranahan today announced a new program to identify and train the next generation of visual effects supervisors for the entertainment industry.  Applicants selected will receive comprehensive instruction and guidance in preparation for a career as a visual effects supervisor for major Hollywood studios, broadcast networks and game companies.  The program is delivered over three days, December 4-6, at Film School Boot Camp, a fully-functional simulated movie set located in Sante Fe, New Mexico.  The program is priced at under $2500 plus cost of travel and accommodations.

The Visual Effects Supervisor's Boot Camp is led by Stranahan, a 25-year industry veteran with numerous credits and awards as producer, director, and visual effects artist for his work in film, television, and on the Internet.  Attendees will receive hands-on experience in all aspects of video production while working on a simulated feature film shoot.  Professional credit as the production’s visual effects supervisor will be extended to attendees seeking documented career experience for entrée into future career opportunities.  The program provide written references and other promotional materials to graduates in time for the 2010 hiring season.

Over the course of the Boot Camp, attendees will get hands on experience with a wide range of professional production techniques. Students will learn on-set supervisory skills as they work closely with the director and D.P. Technical skills acquired will include experience with the RED One™ digital camera system, green screen compositing, motion tracking, shooting high speed & ‘zero G’ effects elements, HDRI light probe, directing stunt talent, exterior shoots for digital matte painting and set extensions, shooting elements for hi-res stitched background image maps, “clean plate” shoots, and the use of hi-res image maps as 3D textures

Take-aways from the program include:
*A hard drive full of all shoot data – including footage, plates, elements, HDRI photos and motion capture – with complete reproduction and usage rights for use in personal projects
* Complete course materials including sample script breakdowns, storyboards, and instructional guides
* Certificate of completion from Film School Boot Camp
* Processional “production stills’ by the on-set photographer in digital format for use in professional promotion
