Sept. 18, 2009 - PRLog -- The largest independent economics community on the web, EconomyWatch.com, has announced the appointment of a new Chief Political Economist, David Caploe PhD.
Dr  Caploe holds a Honors AB in Social Theory from Harvard University, and an MA and PhD from Princeton University, in the fields of International Relations and International Political Economy.

He  is  Founder and President of the Minerva School  Phd / MA Program in Critical Thinking - an educational institution that is path-breaking in both its innovative content and unique delivery system.

Dr Caploe’s analysis of the current global financial and economic crisis have appeared in the New York Times Magazine, the Daily Yomiuri Shimbun of Tokyo, and the Straits Times of Singapore.

David has taught at several universities in the US, including Duke, Fordham, North Carolina State and the University of Miami. He was Professor of Humanities and Social Science at Strayer University and Mirus University, two leading adult/ distance learning institutions headquartered in the Washington DC area.

In addition, he was Founder and Director of the MA program in Media Studies at New College of California in San Francisco, and is today President of the Singapore-based American Center for Applied Liberal Arts & Humanities in Asia - ACALAHA.

While still in the US, in the aftermath of September 11, he did a speaking tour of the San Francisco Bay Area called "Understanding the Middle East", sponsored by the Princeton Club of Northern California, the Harvard Club of San Francisco, San Francisco State University, and the University of San Francisco Program in Peace and Justice Studies.

He was also asked to deliver the Inaugural "Rare Book Room Lecture" to the Board of Trustees of the Gleeson Library at the University of San Francisco, where he spoke on The Millennium Crisis, a comprehensive framework outlining the multi-dimensional crisis the US has been experiencing since early 2000.

“We are delighted to have a man of Dr. Caploe’s experience, ability and wit lead our editorial efforts,” said Keith Timimi, EconomyWatch.com Director. “He has brought a new incision to our features, looking at the true and often grubby meaning of what is really happening behind the headlines. He will lead our journalistic efforts and will play a key part in the exciting research and educational products we are developing.”

In his inaugural series of articles, Dr Caploe examines why nothing has changed in Wall St since the crash, why we should kill all the accountants, who should be head of the US Treasury, and what happens when big oil controls regulators with corruption and sex.
