Washington, DC – The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation will present the 2nd Annual Congressional Black Caucus Minority Business Reception and Awards Gala. Hosted by Mountaintop Marketing, this year’s event will salute minority women business leaders, who continue to leave their indelible marks on our economy, communities across the nation, the United States military, and college universities.
Joan Robinson-Berry, Director of Strategic Work Placement and Small Business Liaison Officer at the Boeing Company, will receive the Executive Leadership Award for her contributions to the corporate community. In her role at Boeing, Ms. Robinson-Berry is responsible for maintaining and improving Boeing relationships with the federal government on matters related to small business subcontracting and supplier diversity. She works with outreach groups, including the Department of Defense, NASA, Office of Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), Small Business Administration, and the Veterans Affairs office. Ms. Robinson-Berry is also responsible for developing strategies and integration plans to enhance our relationship with HBCUs, industry affiliations, and minority institutions, specifically focusing on innovative research partnerships which are key to IDS’ future business objectives.
Ms. Robinson-Berry has held numerous positions at the Boeing Company, including Director of Technical Workforce Excellence; Director of Engineering Processes, Tools, and Skills for the Space and Communications business unit; and, Program Manager of the MD-80/-90 Twinjet Programs for the Commercial Airplanes business unit, responsible for program unit cost, change board oversight, and customer commitments.

Joan Robinson-Berry has been widely recognized for her contributions including The President’s Quality Award, the AES Women of Achievement, Women Making a Difference in Technology, and a 2008 Boeing Diversity Change Agent Award. She represents Boeing on the Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR) Board of Directors; and, serves on the Board of Directors for the National Minority Supplier Diversity Council.
In addition to Ms. Robinson-Berry, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation will recognize five more luminaries their achievements:
Newly appointed Director of the Minority Business Development Agency, David Hinson, will give opening remarks during the Awards Program and share his thoughts on the dynamic leaders being honored, and the importance of recognizing the contributions of minority women business leaders, who collectively drive billions of dollars in our economy’s revenue. Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (D-NY), United States House of Representatives, will deliver the Keynote Address during the program.
The 2nd Annual Congressional Black Caucus Minority Business Reception and Awards Gala will be held on Friday, September 25, 2008 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 900 10th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001. The reception begins at 6:30 p.m. and the awards program starts at 7:30 p.m.
