Award-winning night photographer John Vias will again participate in Studio Nocturne, an exhibition of 10 night photographers' artwork at Fort Mason Center, at Buchanan and Laguna streets, in San Francisco. The show coincides with San Francisco Open Studios' second weekend, October 17 and 18, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. At this year's Studio Nocturne — his fifth —Vias plans to show new work as well as old favorites. All his prints are discounted 20-40 percent through Vias’ Beauty and Inspiration Stimulus Package (http://www.johnvias.com/news.php#Appt).

Studio Nocturne returns to Fort Mason Center to a new, larger space: the Fleet Room on the ground floor of Building D. As in years past, visitors to Studio Nocturne will have an opportunity to purchase fine art photographs at studio prices.

The members of this group are experienced night photographers, many of whom have been showing their work with Studio Nocturne since the group’s first Fort Mason Center exhibit in 2002. There is plenty of other art to be seen there, including prints by the Bay Printmakers, who will share the Fleet Room with Studio Nocturne.

Studio Nocturne is hosted by The Nocturnes, a Bay Area-based night photographer collective founded in 1991 by Tim Baskerville. It is devoted to promoting and exploring all aspects of night photography. Many members of The Nocturnes are well-known and active in the Bay Area fine art photography community and have shown nationally and internationally in juried exhibits.

While Studio Nocturne will not focus exclusively on night photography, that theme ties together the work of these very diverse and accomplished photographers. “We wanted to be able to give this group of dedicated night photographers a chance to show the full range of their photographic talents,” says Baskerville. “We are tremendously excited at the prospect of showing at Fort Mason Center again and especially in this new, larger space. We want to be sure that all of our friends know that unlike last year, our open studio does not conflict with Fleet Week. So parking at Fort Mason will be plentiful. We look forward to a great turnout.”
