Blues Legend John Hammond Performs in NJ Live after BBQ picnic with free entertainment

Enjoy a great Fall day at Appel Farm in Elmer, NJ on Oct. 3. 2009! Blues legend John Hammond plays live in the indoor theatre. You can enjoy a BBQ picnic before the show with free concert by the Capitol Pride Symphonic Band.

Blues musician John Hammond, a legendary Grammy Award-winning artist, brings his distinctive voice and stellar guitar work to audiences at Appel Farm Arts and Music Center on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 8:00 PM. The fiery singer, known for his gutsy blues vocals that evoke gritty roadhouse memories, has collaborated with such greats as Jimi Hendrix (discovered while playing in John's band), Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Duane Allman, JJ Cale, Tom Waits, The Band, John Lee Hooker and many more. In addition to winning the Grammy Award, he has been nominated for four additional Grammy’s and won seven W.C Handy Awards. A tireless performer, Hammond played his 4000th date as a Rosebud artist last year and continues to tour world-wide on an annual basis.

BBQ Picnic
To kick off the 2009-10 concert season, Appel Farm is hosting a BBQ picnic on its multi-acre venue in Elmer prior to the John Hammond concert on Saturday, October 3, 5:30-7:30PM.  Basset’s Memphis BBQ of Moorestown will cater the late afternoon event that features a buffett of hickory-smoked chicken, ribs and pork with side dishes, dessert and beverage.  As a special accompaniment, the Capitol Pride Symphonic Band, a 65-piece Pops orchestra, will entertain during the picnic.  Patrons are invited to bring chairs and/or blankets and enjoy a Fall afternoon, complete with campfire, at the expansive outdoor Grove Stage prior to the indoor John Hammond Blues concert.
