PRLog - Sep. 17, 2009 - CLINTON, N.J. -- Today’s economic situation has had an effect on everyone. Gas prices have risen, grocery bills have increased, wages have been frozen, or lost; and unemployment is the highest it has been in 32 years.
This story is not about that but rather about a couple, Hillary Brush-Wilson and her husband Bob Wilson who not only had to face the issues above, but also a cancer diagnosis. Life has changed drastically for them in 2009. After the loss of her birth mother, Hillary and Bob packed up their belongings and embarked upon a cross country journey from California and headed back to her childhood home in Hunterdon County where they would begin a new chapter in their lives.
Their lives would be filled with sadness and challenges in June when Hillary was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and her journey with cancer would begin.
While seeking information on assistance for those dealing with cancer, she was given the name of a local non-profit, Friends of Suzanne. Reaching out in desperation for help, she called and left a message.
Friends of Suzanne is a 501c3 public charity - Our Pay their Way copayment assistance program has funded approximately 400 copays since starting in 2007. Some of our patients include Kearsten Higgins, age 7 of Clinton; who is battling Leukemia, Loretta Milligan of High Bridge who lost her battle with Lung & Bone cancer in 2006, Suzanne our namesake of Washington who lost her battle with Her2Nue Breast cancer in 2006.
The event on Oct 3rd will benefit Hillary Brush-Wilson in her battle against Hodgkins Lymphoma as well as Pay their Way. Included in the days activities will be crafts, live music and a walkathon. The venue is High Bridge Commons Park on Main Street. It is our hope that we can raise the funds needed to carry us into 2010; when we will celebrate our 5th anniversary.
Vendor space is available $25.00.
