The Orange County Children’s Book Festival celebrates its sixth anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 4, (9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) at the Orange Coast College Campus with a free public event for families featuring book readings, live performances, autograph signings, crafts, food, booksellers, carnival games and more. Throughout the day, the main entertainment stage will feature authors and illustrators including Frank Beddor, Golden Globe Award-nominated movie producer of There’s Something About Mary and author of The Looking Glass Wars Trilogy; Aja Alycean, singer and songwriter; Robin Preiss Glasser, Fancy Nancy illustrator;
This family-fun festival that attracts more than 20,000 visitors is designed for children by an all volunteer team of parents and educators. Families can participate in free health screenings to evaluate children’s vision, hearing and dental and event highlights include children's performances from the Taiko Drummers, Audri’s School of Performing Arts, Company Kid from OC Song and Dance Company and Southern California Children's Chorus, Tierrita Flamenca, The Claddagh School of Irish Dance as well as onsite professional storytelling.
The expo area will include more than 100 exhibits offering fun activities for children such as face painting, storytelling, musicians and drawings as well as book vendors, educational supply stores and presentations by authors and illustrators. This year the Orange Coast College stage will focus on children’s health, wellness and nutrition and feature cooking demonstrations. Admission and parking are free. Refreshments will also be available.
