Hepatocyte Culture Survey Results Available To Participants

Participants are needed for the Hepatocyte Culture Survey which is gathering information about hepatocyte culture ($2 billion world-wide) and other liver function models. Survey results will be distributed to participants.

Sept. 17, 2009 - PRLog -- (Largo, FL) The Hepatocyte Culture Survey is gathering information on current practice of liver function studies.  Liver studies in relation to disease, drug metabolism and the effects of toxins comprise a major aspect of biochemistry. The global market for human hepatocyte-based drug testing alone is estimated at $2 billion a year (LoBuono, 2007).

Hepatocyte cell culture is one of several systems for modeling liver function. All current in vitro methods have drawbacks, i.e. availability of liver tissue, cost, stability, reproducibility, etc. The survey will create a profile of current practice in hepatocyte culture and how it fits with other model systems.

Participants are asked what assay models they use, their primary purpose in liver function studies, as well as questions about cost and aspects of hepatocyte cell culture usage.

Jon T West Consulting is actively seeking participants knowledgeable in the field to take the survey which comprises 18 questions and requires 10-15 minutes to complete. Participants can take the Hepatocyte Culture Survey online at http://www.surveymethods.com/EndUser.aspx?ECC8A4B8ECADB8BC.
