The countdown to the presentation of the Re:locate Awards 2009/10, which honour companies and individuals involved in relocation, begins this autumn, with a focus on global mobility and international assignment management professionals, who form a small, but important - and sometimes under-appreciated - part of the HR profession.
As the only awards in the UK to celebrate success, good practice and innovation in this complex and increasingly high-profile field, the Re:locate Awards, started in 2007 by Re:locate, the UK’s leading magazine for HR professionals and relocation specialists, are now an established highlight of the relocation calendar. Between them, the seven awards recognise individuals, teams, policy and innovation. Previous winners have included PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Jones Lang LaSalle, NATS and GlaxoSmithKline.
Fiona Murchie, Re:locate’s managing editor, says, “During hard times, it’s even more important to promote best practice and nurture talent. Those involved in managing international assignments and global mobility form a relatively small, but vital, part of the HR profession, and deserve to be recognised. With business becoming ever more global, the question of how to move people to locations worldwide while staying within budget is crucial. Even in the current recession, companies are continuing to move staff, a trend that is set to increase once the upturn arrives. Domestic movers are having to make hard decisions, and need help with property and financial issues. HR and management teams need sound advice and creative new ideas.”
She continues, “Our magazine, with associated professional events and electronic media, brings together professionals from across the relocation spectrum, from HR to the network of suppliers who support them, to share knowledge and expertise. The awards scheme is a logical extension of that.”
To encourage even more great companies and individuals to enter this year’s awards, Re:locate has teamed up with Judith Leary-Joyce, author of Inspirational Manager and Becoming an Employer of Choice and managing director of Great Companies Consulting, to offer an added incentive to enter and a special prize. Every organisation that enters the awards will receive a free copy of Judith’s new book, The Psychology of Success, which reveals how to harness talent to gain serial success. The winner’s of this year’s Inspirational HR Team of the Year award will enjoy a day’s consultancy with Judith, during which they’ll work with her to develop their team and business skills and promote the culture of success within their company, to the benefit of themselves and their employer.
The official launch of this year’s awards takes place at the IoD on 3 November as part of Re:locate’s next networking forum event, Winning Strategies: adding value to relocation. Highlights will include illuminating case studies from award-winning HR professionals on designing a global mobility framework and how a small team with focus and imagination can make a big impact on the business case. The keynote speech, by Judith Leary-Joyce, will explain the psychology of success and show how delegates can make serial achievement an integral part of their organisations. Delegates will also be guided through the awards entry process and given tips on preparing a winning submission.
