PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 17, 2009 -
Snowboarding Zone has just released a new section of their website that has all of the basics on Snowboard Terms. This is part of a new community website that is all about Snowboard Terms. Members and non-members can visit this Snowboard Terms page on the Snowboarding Zone website for free at: http://snowboardingzone.org/.

Here is an excerpt from the new Snowboard Terms information webpage:

"So, you want to get into snowboarding, but you don’t know the “lingo” so that you can keep up with all of your friends.  Well, here is a list of terms that you will want to know so that you too can talk snowboarding.
•   Backside:  the side of the skateboard where your heels are.  When referring to the backside, it means to the back of the snowboarder, as in having to look over your shoulder.
•   Baseless Bindings:  Your feet will actually be set the snowboard; there are no metal base plates to set your feet on.
•   Blindside:  Basically the backside.  The side of the snowboarder that is “blind” to them.  Again, having to look over your shoulder.
•   Bonk:  This is where you hit an object with your snowboard as in bumping it and then continuing on with the course.
•   Boost:  Catching air with a jump.
•   Bust:  Slang for “to do” as in, “check him out, busting out this trick.”
•   Camber:  The space, when the snowboard is lying flat on the surface, that is located between the ground and the front and back parts of the snowboard.
•   Cant:  the angle at which your feet are pointing. It could be either duck footed or pigeon toed.  This determines how your knees will be bent.
•   Chatter:  The vibration of the snowboard when riding, usually resulting from high speeds, tight turns or icy conditions."

There is plenty of more information on the new general information Snowboarding website that can be found by visiting: http://snowboardingzone.org/ . There is also a special going on now that allows members to gain access to free ebooks and other free materials just for signing up as a member of the snowboard website for free at: http://snowboardingzone.org/. Users should check back often to the Snowboarding general page as more information will be added as the website expands and grows.
