PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 18, 2009 -
When Fortune 500 Companies and foreign corporations dip in the small business set-aside jar, the outcry is loud. When this type of activity repeats itself year after year this cry gets louder. This week TFCN conducted a poll to get the pulse on this sentiment in light of the recently released data indicating that SBA continues to under-perform when it comes to small business set-asides. In our poll we asked the following question: "What do you think of SBA's repeated failure to properly manage small business set-asides resulting in Fortune 500 businesses receiving small biz contracts?" To be fair this was a loaded question and we did expect negative response. That said, we did not want to sugar coat it as there was no compelling reason to do so. Federal Computer Week described this poll as kvetching, but the truth of the matter is that the federal contractors are deeply dissatisfied with SBA's track record. The poll result confirmed this resoundingly with 93% of those polled demanding system change. To sort out what that change might actually mean will require a new poll and TFCN plans to conduct one later this moth. 4% of polled members felt that SBA is doing the best it can and 3% was not interested in this topic. No one will disagree that 4% support should be the wake up call for SBA considering that small business is their constituency. TFCN would welcome SBA's response to this poll and we would very much like to present SBA's point of view to our members. To see poll results you may visit us at http://tfcn.us

TFCN has attracted more than 20,000 federal contractors into a virtual board room for networking, teaming, recruiting, job seeking, and socializing. 99% of TFCN members are in the U.S. with the remaining 1% working for the U.S. Government overseas.
