Womenswear Label Mothe Launching Spring/summer 2010

Designer May Kosaka introduces Spring/Summer 2010 at COTERIE New York

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 16, 2009 -
New York, NY –  Womenswear label Mothe has partnered with Showroom New York, a non profit fashion showroom, to debut the Spring/Summer 2010 collection at COTERIE New York, on September 22-24 in the Jacob Javitz Center.

The Mothe Spring/Summer 2010 collection is a delightful group of airy easy-fitting silk and knit dresses and separates, in blissful colors which celebrate the full bloom of summer.  Double shoulder straps drape off of shoulders, while breezy sheer crinkle cotton pieces barely cover summer skin.  Peep-holes in the silk tops and a knit legging suggestively reveal the fresh and new skin women have been covering all winter.

“I’m extremely excited to be showing at such a big show like COTERIE this year, and to be working with Showroom New York who will be housing the Spring/Summer 2010 collection” says May Kosaka, Mothe designer. “Working with this showroom is a fantastic opportunity and will be an integral part of getting Mothe to the forefront of women’s fashion.”

Mothe is also participating in the “I Wear New York” campaign; a collective of emerging designers represented by Showroom New York. The collective works exclusively with designers and manufacturers who choose to produce their collections in New York, as a commitment to preserving the historic Garment Center and maintaining New York’s status as a fashion capital for future generations of Fashion Designers.

Mothe is exhibiting at COTERIE in the Showroom New York Booth # 7133.

About the Designer:
New York designer May Kosaka initially received a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, but her passion for art and the construction methods of garments led her to New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, where she received a degree in Fashion Design.

Kosaka’s artistic talent was recognized in 2005, when she was commissioned to design conceptual garments as part of Parthenogenesis, an art installation for the Armory Show in New York City. After the incredible response to her work by artists and the general public, she decided to introduce the same aesthetic into clothes that all women can wear for her label MOTHE. http://mothestudio.com/V5Collection/Lookbk__Linesheet

About Showroom New York:
Showroom New York is the first of its kind in New York City. The concept of the showroom is to incubate and nurture young talent in a non profit spirit. Motivated by its mission to support apparel manufacturing in New York City, The Garment Industry Development Corporation (GIDC) launched Showroom New York in January of 2008. Showroom New York and the GIDC's efforts are contributing to ensure the Garment District will be there for the Anna Sui, Elie Tahari and Marc Jacobs of tomorrow.  One of the main requirements for submission into the showroom is manufacturing in New York. Without local apparel manufacturing, New York will cease to be one of the fashion capitals of the world.   www.showroomnewyork.org
