PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 16, 2009 -
The 21st century is seeing a paradigm shift from West to East in the Petrochemicals business, with the Middle East emerging as global production hub with natural advantages of low cost feedstock.

In 2009, the global petrochemical industry remains focused on construction of olefin projects in Middle East, Asia Pacific’s economic development and expanding demand, and supply and pricing of petroleum and natural gas.

According to the 2009 World Light Olefins Analysis report released by CMAI, the build-up of olefins producing capacity in the Middle East and Asia is progressing at a rapid pace, and has sent the industry into a down cycle, further exacerbated by the global economic slowdown.

However, olefins production in the Middle East will rank among the most competitive in the world due to a significant cost-advantaged feedstock base. Given that the vast majority of this production targets export markets, this surge in supply will dramatically change trade dynamics, and make the region the most important Olefins production hub in the world.

As the global economy shows signs of slow recovery, the 7th MENA Olefins & Polyolefins conference convenes Doha on 9-10 November 2009 to provide insights into the question, “Will early signs of economic recovery mean better times for the petrochemical industry?”

The 7th MENA Olefins & Polyolefins conference explores the evolving dynamics in the Middle East olefins industry, covering latest market developments, updates on projects in the Middle East, feedstock concerns and carbon emissions.

Key issues on the 7th MENA Olefins & Polyolefins agenda include:

•Update on the Consolidation of the global petrochemical industry
•Polyolefins markets, consumption trends & trade flows in the MidEast/Africa, Asia & Europe
•Cracker project status in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt/North Africa
•Can the current ports & transport facilities support the logistical needs of the Middle East producers?
•Effect of stimulus packages on the Polyolefins industry
•Tightening of gas allocation - how will it change the feedstock advantage of MidEast cracker investment?
•Addressing carbon footprints concerns

The program for the 7th MENA Olefins & Polyolefins is finalized, if you’re keen on finding out more on how you can participate as delegates, contact Ms. angelia at +65 63455701 or email at grace@cmtsp.com.sg.or click  http://www.cmtevents.com?ev=091126&st=33&pg=sc
