Cheap and Easy Homemade Costume Ideas are perfect for both kids and adult costumes.  The directions for these homemade costumes are very easy to find online.  If you live near a fabric store you can also look there for directions on how to make your own costumes.  The fabric store will also sell sewing patterns for you moms who know how to sew.  You just might have a tough choice ahead of you, there are lots of different costume patterns and ideas.

If you don't want to sew, or if you cannot sew, don't worry...there are plenty of cheap and easy homemade costume ideas for you.  Just using a little bit of creativity, and lots of fabric glue you can make a spectacular costume for your kids or for yourself.  It's really easy, and it's lots of fun.

Here's a Halloween riddle for you.  What do Zorro, a Mummy, Cyndi Lauper and Indiana Jones have in common?  Can't guess...okay, here's another one.  What do Cyndi Lauper, the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra, Little Red Riding Hood and a Vampire have in common?   Okay...it's so easy you can't see it can you.  Each one of these is a cheap and easy homemade costume you can make this Halloween.

Do you have any old sheets laying around?  Use them to make a ghost or a Greek or Roman toga.  Of course, it can always be torn into strips for that Mummy costume you've been thinking about making.  Remember the old adage, "Where there's a will, there's a way?"    That's the perfect motto for your homemade costume making.  You can make anything you like, you just have to figure out how and keep up the good work until your costume is done.  If one accessory doesn't work out, figure out a substitute material that will work.  It' not hard once you get your imagination involved!

Don't worry, you  can find lots of help.  If you can't figure something out, ask us.  We enjoy making costumes and figuring out new and easy ways to make costume accessories.  We would be glad to help you.  Just drop us a line and we will answer you as soon as we can.  If we don't know how, we will try to find out.   Another old adage comes to mind, "Ask and you will receive."  So ask, it can't hurt.

Not all homemade costumes need the help of a store bought costume accessory, but some do.  A Robin Hood outfit might need  a bow and arrow, Zorro could use a fencing sword.  Anakin Skywalker won't be quite the same without a lightsaber.  You can find some ways to make some accessories, others might be a little too challenging.  Don't worry about it.  If you don't think you want to make, then buy it.  It's to make your costume more authentic, so it's up to you how you want to complete it.  I've bought lots of accessories over the years and found they usually weren't too expensive at all.

Let's take a homemade costume like Zorro.  I always see Antonio Bandaras when I think of Zorro...but anyway...you can make a fencing sword from cardboard and aluminum foil, but it might take longer than you have, or longer than you think it's worth.  You can buy one for five or seven dollars.   Your homemade costume will still be cheaper than a store bought one. The fencing sword can be made from aluminum foil and cardboard, but it might take

Some homemade costumes only need the help of some costume makeup to complete them.   When you are using costume make up be sure to get a safe one, one that's gentle on your skin.  When you are making your own costume, make sure the materials you use are not flammable.  Another concern, whether you buy or make your costume, is the length.  Don't let your costume drag on the floor, and don't let any part of a costume block or hinder your field of vision.  It's important to be able to walk safely and see where you are going in your Halloween costume.

You will want your cheap and easy homemade costume ideas to be safe costume ideas .After all, you want your cheap and easy homemade costume ideas to be safe costume ideas.  If you are going to have an accident on Halloween, how about accidentally winning the unique costume contest!
