Denver, CO –Denver Public high school graduates and Denver residents could be eligible for up to $1,500 in student loan forgiveness from CollegeInvest, Colorado's not-for-profit higher education financing resource.
The CollegeInvest Mile High Graduate Rebate Award for Denver Students (GRADS) is a partnership between the City and County of Denver and CollegeInvest, a division of the Colorado Department of Higher Education.
"Assistance in paying for higher education is available for Denver graduates who qualify," said Janet Gullickson of College Invest. "Signing up to participate in the program is easy and $1,500 in loan forgiveness could eliminate an entire year of student loan payments for some students."
The amount of loan forgiveness available to a student depends on the type of degree the student is pursuing, ranging from $300 for a vocational certificate to $1,500 for a bachelor's degree.
To participate in the program, students must:
-Register to participate at http://www.collegeinvest.com/
-Be a Denver Public Schools high school graduate or a Denver resident who finishes high school with a diploma or equivalent.
-Be eligible for federal financial aid.
-Choose CollegeInvest for their federal Stafford student loans.
-Attend classes at least part time, and graduate within established time limits.
For three decades, CollegeInvest has served as Colorado's not-for-profit higher education financing resource, helping families across the state pay for college through scholarships, matching grants, student loan forgiveness, college savings plans, outreach programs and college planning tools.
As a not-for-profit division of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, CollegeInvest's sole focus is helping Colorado families overcome the financial barriers to college.
