Hospitals Realize Dramatic Gains in ED Throughput and Asset Utilization Due to Enhanced RTLS

New functionality from Intelligent InSites’ enterprise visibility and automation platform delivers immediate and measurable benefits to hospital ED workflow and asset management

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Sep 16, 2009 – Fargo, ND – Intelligent InSites Inc., a leading provider of automation solutions that transform healthcare, today announced a major release of its enterprise visibility solution which enables healthcare organizations to automate and streamline systems and processes, resulting in dramatically driving down costs while improving the level of care. The latest release of the InSites Enterprise Visibility Platform™ includes significant new features and enhancements to the Emergency Department Workflow and Asset Management software applications, offered as a part of the InSites Platform.
The InSites’ ED application is designed to optimize patient flow within emergency departments of any size and allows for customization to accommodate the unique processes of each ED. To increase efficiencies and avoid data entry errors, the InSites Platform integrates with a hospital’s existing information systems, including the Electronic Medical Records (EMR). With this release, several integration points were established with MEDITECH’s EMR system, allowing for direct data feed to the InSites’ applications, including patient’s check-in information, confidential flag, triage information, or admission status.
Also expanded are the reporting capabilities of the InSites Platform, now allowing healthcare providers to receive instant visualization of the patient throughput, including time to triage, time to physician assessments, time to admission, or the total length of stay. Several valuable additions have been included with the ED Flow Board, now allowing immediate identification of patients approaching the length of stay goals or areas exceeding capacity levels.
“We are proud to introduce the new features in the ED application,” said Carol Tweten, Director of Product Management at Intelligent InSites. “With throughput data updated in real-time, our clients are able to identify bottlenecks, analyze the impact other departments have on the length of stay, as well as measure performance against established targets. Having that information readily available enables hospitals to improve their processes, which results in a better patient experience, increased efficiency, minimized diversions and patient walkouts, as well as higher reimbursements.”
The latest release of the InSites Platform also allows healthcare providers to further improve asset management processes. With new and improved utilization reports, hospitals can compare utilization rates for selected facilities, time periods, or types of equipment, allowing them to determine under-utilized assets and provide insights for better allocation of existing equipment. Additionally, by analyzing reports showing utilization rates in conjunction with rental cost data, accessible directly from the InSites Platform, healthcare providers can focus on decreasing the number of rental days, especially of high-cost items.
“This release of the InSites’ solution illustrates the tremendous value healthcare providers receive by fully embracing the business intelligence capabilities of the InSites Platform,” said Mark Rheault, President and CEO of Intelligent InSites. “By gaining real-time visibility into their operations, our clients can create a lean healthcare environment and even further improve patient satisfaction.”
Intelligent InSites will be showcasing the new release of the InSites Enterprise Visibility Platform at the RFID in Healthcare – Boston Conference (Booth #9) being held September 17 in Waltham, Massachusetts, and during the Intelligent InSites Partner Summit, being held October 27-28 in Fargo, North Dakota.
